    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

What I myself love about the smaller calibers, 40 and less, is they are a little easier on the wallet when it comes to powder and lead! Recoil is minimal unless you load heavy. Perfect to shoot at targets, perfect to take small game with!

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

No 4" target harmed during shoot!🤣 Actually I thought I shot 5 times, but must have only recorded 3, dang old age! I am maybe 10 feet from the little soft target. 15 grains 2f first shot, 30 grains 2nd and 3rd shot.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Made it out this morning! Was hoping to have some fun with video footage, but complete camera failure. Purchased this from a member here, very accurate .36 and quite enjoyable to shoot. I was using 25 grains Scheutzen 2F, home cast .350's. I think this old gal is going to make a great small...

Put in for Thursday and Friday vacation days at work! Thursday heading to the hills again for more shooting, Friday morning to the lake to put some more fish in the freezer! Life is good! :)

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Purchased a 36 Bobcat from a fellow member here. Coned it last week, got out to shoot it today! Very pleased with the gun. I was shooting either 25 Gr Scheutzen 3F or 2F. Both performed well, but I think next outing I will try 30 Gr as I was a tad low.

Kinda fun - North West Co. Token 1820

I am not sure, but I would guess "company store" would be a possibility. Here is a description I found of the tokens as well as their competitor back in the day, Hudson Bay Company. North West Company Token 1820

My wife says I have issues ...

Interestingly, other than the tragic event of President Lincolns assassination, I only read about Deringers being concealable weapons, ladies "muff" guns, etc. I don't see them mentioned otherwise. So I am wondering if these really weren't a last ditch "in your belly", or "across the card...

Kinda fun - North West Co. Token 1820

From what I have read, originals are very valuable. Issued in 1820 by North West Company and worth one beaver pelt. So I am not sure if you "sold" them a pelt for a token, and then that token was worth a beaver pelt in value for trade? These are of course just contemporary cheap copies, but...

    Pedersoli owners, speak up

Gotta be cleaned to be reliable, but 9 shots for me works when squirrel hunting most of the time. We are allowed 6 in Iowa, but when I get 3 - I call it a day!

    Pedersoli owners, speak up

I have a 36 Cub Flintlock that has the patent breech. Without any cleaning, it's good for about 9 shots using 3F Scheutzen.

I am beginning to think she is correct! 😂
