Flint Size for Dixie Tennessee Mountain Rifle

Hi all, I am wondering what flint sizes fit the Dixie TMR? The rifle came with 5/8 x 3/4 flints but I have read that 3/4 flints will also work. Is this 3/4 square or 3/4 x 7/8?

    Starting work on the HF1803

Hi Zonie, Thanks for the link. Those Xacto/Excel knives are great, it's like theory were made for gunsmiths. I have roughly inleted the lock, trigger plate and trigger guard. The only trouble is there is a over inleted area the front of the rear of the trigger guard (came like this from...

    Starting work on the HF1803

Hi Zonie, I guess I am trying to get an idea of what I need to do each job. I only just received the barrel and lock the other day so I can start to slowly inlet the lock (pre-inleted stock) and then inlet the barrel, as well as ensuring vent liner/pan relationship are correct. I have a bad...

    Books for nubbie builder

Hi all, I am slowly getting the parts from TOW for a HF 1803 rifle. This is my first build and have so far enjoyed cleaning up the brass castings. Soon I will be starting to inlet and then pin, screw etc things into place. I have the book "Recreating the American Long Rifle" but I was...

Brass entry pipe for Harpers Ferry 1803

Hi all, I have started work on my 1803 but the stock and some brass components are still on the way being on back order. I have made a good start on the trigger guard and can understand why custom build cost so much, just finishing the parts would take a fair bit of time. Anyway the next part...

1803 build question no.1 trigger guard

Hi all, The first parts of the 1803 arrived today from TOW. As expected will have some work to clean up the brass parts that arrived. The question I have concerns the triggerguard, the rear mounting lug is not central and leaning to one side. Can I straighten the lug or will it break?
