    Preference poll: smoothbore or rifled?

Not much smoothbore experience. Almost none. But not hard to say rifle. No special reason. It's been perfectly satisfactory so far.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

With all respect for you, of which I have much, that there is funny 😁 I tackled a problem with a CVA frontier kit that I'm working on. The Muzzle of this barrel clearly was crowned with the tool at an angle. It dished out one side of the inner crown more on one side than the other. I've...

    Made a Lyman pouch

If you want symmetrical then draw it on a folded piece of poster type paper or if you have a file folder handy use that.

    Percussion cap tins

My understanding is that it is corrosive. No5 sure about the mercury aspect.

    Considering a .40 caliber

That's pretty much my view on it.

    Percussion cap tins

I've taken up DIY caps and use the test strip containers described above. What few commercial caps I have left are also in them. They are the 21st century film can. 😀 With diabetes rampant, if you aren't "lucky" enough to be diabetic you probably know a potential supplier. 😉

    Considering a .40 caliber

How dare you!! Blasphemer! Just kidding, I've never gotten on that train either although I intend to. If it's not for me I'll dump it.

    Pedersoli owners, speak up

I don't have a pedersoli nor have I ever shot one, but I've seen a few causing ignition problems at the range. I've also seen some pictures of disassembled pedersoli breech plugs and it appears that the problem may be with the hole in the breech plug being too small. The breaching system...

    Considering a .40 caliber

Forty seems to be highly thought of by many competitors. But that's only the accuracy side of the coin. I have never shot a squirrel or rabbit with a muzzleloader of less than 50 caliber. Most of those went very well in terms of meat damage. And that seemed to be all about shot placement...

Round Ball performance story and question

This isn't posted in response to any other posts above or anywhere on the internet for that matter 🙄 In references to projectiles found under the skin on the opposite side, this seems to suggest that the projectile ran out of steam at that point and simply stopped. But, that's not the case...

Is there a lube for shooting conicals?

    By weight or volume 🤔

    ramrod tip ?

If it's snagging with the patch between the jag and the bore just push the patch over the top of the ball before you start it.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

It's been my observation that the subs ive chronographed tend to give higher extreme spreads and SDs. That's on Pyro P and RS including "Select".

This Poor Renegade had to come home with me

Or a 58 ball rifling!! 😀 It's luck that the original owner didn't do any more than they did. They would for sure have made a mess of it. Looking forward to the end product 👌

One more idea on bore cleaning (sorry).

I cleaned a suppository pistol in the DW but didn't add soap. Just hot water. In the army some of us were known to take our M14s into the shower for a hot water bath 🛁 😅
