    Looks fine to me. Each piece of wood will be different. Wipe it with a wet rag (water or alcohol) and you'll see what it will look like when the finish is applied. If you want something different, then you have to experiment with stains or dyes.

    Kibler Colonial Brass Patch Box Cover

    Not a Colonial, but a Woodsrunner. To me the WR has Berks county style to it, so I'm doing (attempting) mine to somewhat mimic a Jacob George. I filed a piece of brass to fit the dovetail in the buttplate, and soldered it in. Then cut the finial to kind of match the picture in the "Berks County...

    Do you gut your deer?

    I immediately gut in the field, whether it's archery or gun season. In archery when temps are warmer the hide comes off as soon as possible and into the walk-in cooler it goes.

    Patchbox on Kibler Woodsrunner

    Currently putting one together for my buddy. I had to remove almost an 1/8" from the front of the patch box lid for it to latch. Just went at it with a safe file.
