As my eyes worsen with age, I simply decrease my shooting distance. Deer need to be under 45 yds. for me to trust a killing shot. After all, there are few things that I do as well as I once did!

Yeah, it’s sure no 3”, foam-padded sling attached to swivels at bottom of rifle! Still it does get rifle from point A to point B.

This is my Traditions Ky. Flintlock. Strap ( don’t remember the brand) is 1&1/4”. So…this is how mine fits.

A quick search of “touch-hole alignment” tells me that an imaginary line drawn across the flat top of pan should intersect center of hole. That’s ballpark, as it sounds like there are differing opinions. Do a search and you’ll see what I mean!

Front-to-back alignment of pan/touch hole looks ok in these larger pictures. A search on the forum, or someone with far more experience than I have, can advise you on preferred touch-hole vertical alignment with bottom of pan. Just be aware that, in your quest to lower tang deeper into stock...

Keep an eye on touch hole/pan relationship as you work on tang depth. I can only see so much on my phone, but it looks like your barrel should move back a little to line up pan/hole. It also looks like you shouldn’t lower barrel too much into stock, or your touch hole will be too low in relation...
