Getting old is NOT for the faint of heart! I've always been in love with firearms and started collecting when I was about 10. My childhood hero was Jack, a blacksmith/silversmith and carpenter by trade and a gunner by heart. He gave me my first rifle, a .45-70 Springfield Trapdoor. After he died I purchased his property, a Georgian 1-1/2 story cape built in 1749 on approximately 140 acres of land. Although I am no longer able to hunt, I allow others to hunt my land and I still shoot right outside my backdoor. (100 yards into a berm across my pasture). I have my great uncles Remington #1 rolling block in .44-77 that he shot at the Creedmore Range in New York in the 1870's (He was one of Berdan's Sharpshooters during the Civil War). I have been shooting cap and ball revolvers for about 5 years and recently bought a Pedersoli 1763 Leger Charleville to replace the Short Land Pattern Brown Bess that was supposed to stay with the house when I bought it. I still have much to learn about flintlock shooting. I think that falls under the heading of, "Teaching an old dog new tricks" but I love it.
