    Rich I have a Rice Lancaster/Dickert 44" 62 cal D weight barrel. The guard I chose was a Goehring #62 if I remember right (grabbed it at Kempton last summer). I also ordered a couple Lehigh style guards from Mike Brooks.

    Sidelock hammer screw.

    No offense taken by me. I think people understand the question but are trying to understand why the screw would break. I can understand the hammer taking shock and possibly breaking but I still have a hard time seeing how that screw would take any shock unless there was side force on the head...

    Nice attitude, I'm sure you'll get a lot of help, By the way I've never had any issues with TC screws. Not sure why the end of the screw would even break off. It shouldn't be under any kind of stress during shooting.
