I earned a Ph.D. in American history from Binghamton University in 1994, and a B.A and M.A. from the University at Albany, majoring in history, in 1982 and 1984. I worked at the New York State Museum from 84-87 and as a Historic Preservation Program Analyst from 87 until my retirement in 2010. During that period I was Historic Site Manager at John Brown Farm State Historic Site in 1997. Currently devoting most of my time to sled dogs, but I help out at the Old Stone Fort Museum complex in Schoharie, NY.
