As a kid I hunted and would target shoot with Dad, Uncles and Cousins. Outdoor sports were always part of my life. My interest in firearms and hunting took a turn toward the historic approach as age and population growth became hurdles to what once was a few steps out the back door to open land and uncontested hunting or target practice.
I grew up in PA where gunsmiths flourished prior to and beyond the American revolution. Upon researching those early artisans I decided to build a flintlock rifle and pistol and see where that takes me. It has been a slow journey because of my lack of free time but as I approach retirement I am finding more time to keep things going in the shop.
The advice on the Muzzleloading Forum related to my builds has been a real goodsend so I decided to hook up more permanently and register.
I live in WA state and gave up hunting several years ago. But as time rolls on I hope I will find even more time to engage in my love of early firearms and perhaps take on a few more build projects.
