Old caps

I was digging around in my shotgun box and I came across these 3 plastic of percussion caps. They are at least 25 years old. The CVA caps on the left and the Dixie caps in the middle have lost their copper sheen. The Dynamit-Nobel caps on the right still look almost new. That plastic tin has a tighter seal. Eventually I'll pop off one or two to see if the still have any 'oomph' left after this many years. Literally a 'blast from the past'.

You don't even have to go outside to test those. Just clear the weapon properly, first.

If they have been kept dry I bet they will still work. If you are going to test them I would test them outside.

I was shooting the other day using Alcan caps. I don't think I purchased them, I believe they were in stuff I got when grandpa passed away. He's been gone 20 years, I'm guessing they are 45-50 years old. No miss fires yet.

Yep

I had a bunch of caps that were about 20 years old and they fired just fine

I have CVAs like the blue one and they are around 45 years old. They still work fine.

I have some that are over 60 years old, some my grandfather gave me back in 1960 before he passed away others were found in junk shops and on eBay. I collect the tins and every once in a while I will shoot with some and so far never a dud.
