I’m on LI too sometimes in NH where for now have a second property. I just throwing this out there. I generally well now that the weather has gotten better shoot at Calverton from the black powder, shotgun and pistol side. If you’re ever interested in some companionship send me a PM and maybe we can get out and make some smoke. Calverton shotgun range I believe the targets are out about 40 to 50 yards if you’re familiar. Which for my eyes I can still see.
I first shot at Calverton 1975 that part of the range you use was the entire range at that time with a 100 yard distance. The price was one dollar for many years

Welcome my family goes back to the 1600s on Long Island
What part of Long Island you from? I had a friend when I was in Grammar school whose family traveled the Oregon Trail. I don’t know how long the family was here prior but I do believe they were part of the Mayflower gang. The family had Bibles on display that were passed down. I live in East Northport so we have the Burr family and some other in the general area. Lots of amazing history on Long Island that I wish I learned about in elementary school. I would say most people have no clue of the history. For me i have been here my whole life I can only imagine what your ancestors think about what you see here today.
