Please see my original P1842 and my 2 x P1845 Extra Service Muskets.
The P1842 has keys holding the barrel to the stock and the one of mine is one made for commercial. The P1842 was built as percussion musket, not conversions. This one still has a relatively good bore.
The other 2 muskets are my P1845 extra service muskets which were put together for mainly back line troops. These have pins holding the barrel to the stock. Normally they don't have back sights but it seems those with 1850 dated lock did as per my one example. This has a very nice tight bore with only slight pitting and shoots the most accurate of my muskets, putting all shots onto a IPSC sized target at 50m.
The second P1845 ES is complete but a lot more rough and what is nice is still has the original Lovell Catch for the bayonet.
I have a third P1845 which I use for spares.
The slinged one is my accurate P1845 ES. Bottom the P1842.
