Did you glue it? What kind of glue? Any impact on its light-gathering ability?
Eventually , both front and rear sights became a blurr ruining my ability to center up the sights for accurate fire , then , the target becme a blurr. Just bit the bullet , went to a Johnson , tang mounted peep sight on my long rifle. Amazing , my eyesight was like it was 20 yrs. ago. However , mounted the tang peep on a new scratch built .50 cal. 5.5 lb. longrifle , 'cause my favorite .50 was too heavy , @ near 7+ lbs.. Nothin's ever cheap or easy , but is,doable.........LOL
I used super glue and no effect on its light gathering ability.
When i put this in play i too will use an adjustable rear peep sight as i wont be able to file the front sight.

Did you melt the end of the fiber to get it to mushroom like in the photo ?
If it's a Hi-Viz sight pipe, that's how they come.

I have read of mid 19th c. target shooters melting hog bristles to bead front sights, but never tried it myself.
I have found fiber optic sights tend to blur together into one big blob. Not even blacking out 90% of the fiber helps.

So did you regulate the sights prior to modifications?
Mike, where did you get the fiber optic tubing or material? I’m a traditionalist at heart, but you can’t argue with Father Time. Sights these days are getting harder to see. I’m thinking I might try this on one of my rifles. It looks as if it would be easy to remove if needed. However, I know nothing about this sort of thing and don’t know what to ask for or where to get it. Advice would be appreciated.

Go to an archery shop and ask for replacement fiber optics fora sight. They come in different thicnesses so pick whats best for you.
What do yu mean by regulate?
