.45 cal. I bought it off an older gentleman out here in Missouri he was using it for benchrest shooting and off hand.It has been tapped for a scope mount, and the rear sights are adjustable. Looks like somebody's hunting rifle at some point. I have moved this to Percussion Rifles as it's not pre-1865 original.

I love the way it is.The rifle is very accurate and has a sweet trigger.someones "I am building what i want and purist's be damned!"
could be reworked, but then the history of the original builders efforts would be lost.
i would leave it and shoot the heck out of it!
