I have a 16 gauge W C Scott percussion double that has a broken worm stuck in the right breech plug. Can you tell me who might be able to remove the right breech plug for repair ? The right plug is the one that comes off first. Is there a tool available for purchase or rent that could be used at home to perform the task ? Thanks for any suggestions. Daryl

The first thing is - DON’T try this at home ! I saw a very nice double that the owner attempted to remove the plugs with an adjustable wrench and a big vise. He managed to completely separate the barrels from each other. The wrench’s I’ve seen for this job are custom made and securely clamp down on the plug tang, with custom made vise jaws to grip the barrels. If you have to work on it your self, get expert advice. From a real gunsmith, not a AR fan boy….
 
I am not a fan of shooting anything but a real load out of a barrel, but in your instance i would try it.
remove the nipple and trickle as much 4f in as you can. cap it and strap it to a post, tire , whatever.
shield yourself and pull the string.
trying to remove the plug is almost sure to ruin the piece.
 
This may be a dumb idea, but it's an easy one to try . . . if you remove the nipple, is it possible to then put some type of rod in the hole and jar the worm lose? I am assuming the worm is stuck close to the breech.

Just an FYI, removing the plug from a db should be done by someone who truly knows what they are doing. It often results in rib work, which is costly. Frankly, do everything you can to avoid it. Did you try compressed air?
