Fired off of my sticks, 87 laser ranged yards, .495 Round Ball, .020 patch, wool felt over powder wad, 80gr weighed Swiss FFg. My 1970s TC Hawken with a gently used Green Mountain PRB barrel, lit off by an RWS #11. I have a mule deer tag for November 2-7 here in Southern New Mexico. I will shoot once more before I hunt, the low and left was the first clean bore shot.

Unit 34 with 339 of my closest friends.
Best of luck! Hunting GMU 34 is a privilege on itself Hunted it for elk and was successful but saw a lot of mule deer too! Don’t worry about your 339 friends, more than half will be gone before you really start hunting! LOL. Hope you get a monster!!

Well life sure has a way of waylaying the best laid plans of mice and men. Missed yesterday, opening day as I had to take my best friend to the Cancer Center in Albuquerque Friday, and got back to my grandson's 6th Birthday Party, wouldn't have missed that for the world. Went out this morning, it was brisk at 9200', and weather moving in, wind couldn't decide on a direction, but did manage to get within 60 yards of several deer, just none wearing the required headgear. Supposed to be our first good snow event tonight into tomorrow morning, so I likely won't get out until later in the day. Had a great morning until the rains showed up, and look forward to hitting it again, should be good weather tomorrow afternoon through the remainder of the hunt on Wednesday. Hope to be sharing better news in the next few days, although the visit to the cancer center brought good news, his tumor has shrunk thanks t the treatments.
