This lock is on a really rough long gun once used by Apaches. The butt stock has been shortened, but the lock is what is interesting. If nor mistaken, it's an 1861 Enfield. The firearm has no sights at all.

Could you post more photos, particularly of the entire gun as well as any markings?
Also, would be interested as to Apache provenance.
It will be a few days before I can get more picks. The gun came from an estate sale in New Mexico about 20 years ago. My mom and dad were test-driving their new RV after retiring, and 'happened' upon the sale.
 
The lock panels and the trigger guard both are correct for a P53, so I'm gonna guess a cut down civil war musket.

Any verified Indian-used guns seem always to be in bad shape; I don't believe they were that particular back in the day about cleaning after shooting, and we know what black powder does to guns if not cleaned!
