Rifling twist rate obsessions??

Forgive me, this probably will go like a hang-fire on a 500% overcharge!

What's with the obsession w knowing rifling twist rate?

A FAST twist doesn't mean it will shoot longer bullets perfectly, there's more to making a mzldr shoot great than twist rate.

If you don't know what the twist rate is you can't tell someone when they ask you.

You are right. A fast twist doesn’t mean it will shoot longer bullets perfectly, but without the proper twist rate, no matter what else you do, you will never shoot longer bullets perfectly.

The twist rate will tell you what the preferred projectile is for your rifle.

It's not just the twist rate, you need to include the depth of the rifling, radius grooved or flat grooved, number of lands, and width of the lands to the grooves. Then one can start to think about projectile type, patches or wadding, lubricants ...

Unless you are making your own barrels it does not matter. Find what combination works the best for you and move on :horseback:
