Got My Elk Mount Back

My neighborhood taxidermist Natalie, of Natalie’s Taxidermy called yesterday to tell me my elk mount was ready for pickup.
I killed this bull during the Colorado elk muzzleloader season 2023. Mount looks great. She did a great job.

I’m a taxidermist Jack. She did a great job. Congratulations. Now you can look at your mount and relive the hunt.

I'm also taxidermist and will concur that Natalie did a fine job. I like that hard hook (turn), helps show more movement.You have a specimen and mount to be proud of for sure.

@Hatchet Jack awesome bull! And with the traditional muzzloader is awesome. I’m from Montana and want to get into muzzloader hunting. Can you share some specifics on the setup and help a guy out looking to get into it. I’m leaning towards a .54 cal renegade.

I am no expert by any means, but I can tell you what my set up was.
*TC Renegade stock
*Green Mountain LRH barrel,.50 cal, stainless steel with a 1-28 twist
*Green Fiber optic front sight, .04''rod
*Lyman 57SML rear peep sight
*Bullshop 460 grain Nex bullets(made in Montana)
*Oversized wool wad between powder and bullet
*2F Swiss black powder, 85 grains weighed.
I practiced shooting up to 200 yards. I was able to consistently hit a target the size of a bread toaster at that distance.
I ended up shooting my bull at 208 yds.
