What is your choice of shot container for the field?

I have 2 options: My preferred is a hand made shot snake with an Irish Charger. My other is a shot pouch with an Irish charger which is similar to the Pedersoli shot pouch that someone has for sale in the sale forum. The shot pouch holds much more shot for a long day in the field or a multi-day trip to the field. The shot snake capacity is only 1.75 pounds of shot for a day in the field for small game.

I use an old powder horn. Mine holds about 8 loads of #6 shot by volume for my 20 ga..

Original shot snakes/flasks come up on ebay all the time.

I just purchased this one, advertised as "leather is soft with slight damage", complete with powder and shot measures. Usually these have been lost.

Even if it cannot be repaired, it is complete. Will make a perfect pattern for the local leatherworker. If it ends up being in the condition the ad states, not a bad buy for $30.

I use a horn for shot. It’s the one in the top right corner of this photo. It holds all the shot needed for a morning of squirrel hunting.

My shot bag holds quite a bit of shot and has the lever type dispenser. Hold it in the muzzle and press the lever once, no separate parts to loose. With the powder measure and capper loading is pretty fast which has been handy in a good dove spot and it carry’s fine for pheasant. The canvas bag has straps on each so when over the shoulder I’m ready to go. Everything goes into the bag to include game.

I have many shot containers, my favorite being a strapped double shot pouch with one side for shot and one for ball, made by Cutfingers. I also have a couple of small powder horns that can carry a day's worth of shot. But truth be known, I often carry tubes with pre-measured shot and powder. Six of each with another with priming powder and I can carry all I need in my pockets (wads in one, tubes in the other. More than six shots a day at grouse in the Adirondacks is a LOT of shooting.

Though not traditional, but for squirrel hunting I just use pre-measured plastic vials for shot and powder. It’s very convenient and fast, which helped bag one after missing a first shot at a tree rat circling the Oak. Kept my eyes on the bugger and loaded without looking down.

I have a couple of Leroy’s double pouches. He sure does good work. On one, both sides have wooden stoppers. The other, which is my go-to pouch, is a wooden stopper on the lead side and brass spout on the powder side. Plenty of capacity for a days hunt. Freed up a lot of space.

I use the turtle bag for my shot, it’ll hold more than enough for a days hunt.

I measure the shot load with my powder charger.

Like others, I've used various types/things. Really like leather for she shot does not rattle. Pre-measured in various small containers is safe and right handy. My WW2 gas mask bag has finally gotten beyond fixin', but I still grab it sometimes to carry dead critters, trail cams, and snacks.

Repro spring chargers. There are colonial accounts of them being ordered along with London made guns.
I use premeasured shot in one end and premeasured powder in the other.

I was a shot pouch with Irish charger. I kept it only partially full. Filled was way more than I would use in a day and it was very heavy to lug around.

What is your choice of shot container for the field?
