This is from a buck I shot 3 years ago! It was broadside to me at about 50 yards. Looking back over its shoulder, trying to find me. Its head was partially covering its vitals. So I aimed for the top of the nose…was a little off! Caught the end of its lower jaw then on through: the ribs, vitals, ribs again to stop up against hide on far side.

What caliber?

.50 hard cast Maxi ball recovered from a large cow elk. Distance estimated between 125 and 150 yards, downhill and across a drainage. First shot hit, elk took about 5-6 steps then stopped behind a downed tree top and stood there. Reloaded, dropped back down onto one knee as a rest, then fired. Dead elk. Both hits were within 3 inches of each other, one was a pass through the other was found almost through the offside hide. I know not what vital was hit due to the very steep location. Not the place nor time to be doing an autopsy. Most likely got the rear of both lungs.

Some .310 RB recovered from a couple of squirrels that were shot with my .32 Crockett squirrel rifle. Out of 104 squirrels, these were the two recovered. All the others were pass through shots.

Here are 3 .530 balls shot with 80-90gr 2F at 30-40 yards. Two on the left are from a shed buck last year. One went through shoulder, spine, stopped in opposite shoulder. Follow-up shot went through sternum and stopped in shoulder. Piece of ball on right was from small doe, quartering to shot, hit neck and went through spine then stopped in shoulder.
