I found a .58 cal so now I’ll update this thread. I’m looking for a 54 cal stainless Sporter. It looks like a hawken style with a recoil pad.

The best way to get ahold of me is with a private message. Please include pictures if you can upload them.

Thanks

Looking for a .58 Investarms or cabelas percussion rifle with 15/16 across the flats. I would also consider a .54 if it is stainless.

I don’t think that you’ll find a 15/16 in .58. Not enough meat on the barrel to be safe. You’re looking at about .017” on the walls(at most) where .025 is the absolute minimum for safety reasons(my math might be off but you can ask the pros like Bobby Hoyt, he’ll agree. You need at least an inch barrel for .58. Sorry to be Debby downer

I have the sporterized hawken version. It is 15/16 inches.

Do some research, they exist.

Oh I know they do. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to be trying one. Like I said. The industry standard for safety is .025 on the walls at the lowest end. .017 is really pushing it. I’ll pass thanks.
Im confused….This is a wanted to buy thread. What are you passing on?

The gun I’m looking to buy is a factory made rifle. They are actually very desirable. You should take a minute and look them up. The folks that have them on this website speak highly of them.

I have an engraved one I'm planning to sell. The barrel measures exactly 31/32nds, (measured with an accurate caliper) a 32nd bigger than 15/16ths and one smaller than one-inch. 15/16tns is 30/32nds for those who have trouble with fractions.

That perfectly describes the .58 Investarm barrel I bought one time. Wouldn't go on my TC Hawken stock, was loose in my Renegade stock.

I worked a deal out on a .58 cal. I’d still be interested in a stainless Lyman/ Investarms in .54 if one was available

I’ve not seen one before. Can you send me pictures?

That's interesting about the Renegade stock. I have the carbine barrel version of the 58 he's looking for. I sent him pics of mine, probably a year or better ago, and he pointed out to me that my barrel was indeed in a Renegade stock! I hadnt noticed that. However; mine fits like a glove. Weird.

I hope you know that the 15/16" barrels are proof tested with real heavy loads. I have an investarms .58

that extra 32nd inch is the difference between life and death. with that gigantic 32nd measure of safety you will never get blown up :horseback:

I had an Investarns .58 cal. Hawken with a 15/16" barrel. It wouldn't shoot straight until you got it dirty. I got rid of it and got one of their.50 cal. barrels with the hard chrome plated bore and I love that gun. It a real shooter.

How hard is cleaning the chrome lined barrel?
