I hope you guys had a better season than I did. I hunted just about every day of the two-week Muzzleloader season here in Virginia, minus Saturdays. I saw two does, and one other that I chalked up as a doe since I could not make out any antlers.
It was very warm, with some days reaching the high 70's by afternoon. Leaves like Cornflakes made still hunting a poor option. A good acorn drop, and plenty of sign. My guess is the warm temps gave them no reason to move throughout the day. I emptied my rifle into a dead tree Friday afternoon, cleaned it up and switched to Grouse and Woodcock.
Nice to be in the woods though, and it's a great time to be an American.
