i was setting watching 4 coons munching on the corn I had spread on an old logging road when one of them stood up on his back legs and stared off down the hill. A few seconds later they all hit the timber and scurried up the trees.
A dozen hogs popped into the road and wadded up on the corn.
I was loosing light fast but couldn’t get a pig singled out as the milled around in the road.
Finally a big sow moved out into the edge of the road and as soon as she was clear I cut down on her with my new .50 caliber. They all lit out back down the hill but I was sure she was not going far.
She had made it 50 yards down towards the creek but left a great blood trail.
This was only the 4th ball I had shot out of this rifle. I finished the barrel Sunday and the first shot at 50 was 4” low and 2” left. I tweaked the sights and the next two were touching in the bulls eye, so I cleaned it well and loaded it. It has been loaded ever since.
