My rule is smaller ball and thicker patch as it leads to less deformity of the ball and greater accuracy for me.

In the case of my 58 rifle, I tried .575, .570, .562 and .560. I settled on .562 with a leather patch. I then sold all the molds except the .562.

For my 50 rifle, I tried .495, .490. .485 and .480 and settled on the .485 with a leather patch. I sold all the molds except the .485.

For my 45 rifle, I tried .445, .440, .433 and .429 and settled on the .433 with a leather patch. I sold all the molds, except the .433. This .429 is the last of mold I need to sell.

The .429 is fine for the 44 if you use the correct patch thickness. I like to experiment with different mold sizes, so I buy a lot and sell the ones I do not need. Hope that helps.

Thanks all. I just dug around in my 'stuff' and found a .433 mould I've had it for a while and forgot. {gettin' old .... 92 is old? Really?]

I saw this the other day and thought who wants a .429? Well today I picked up an English game gun. The rifled bore needs a .429. I guess the answer is me! PM sent.
Thanks
