Short starter I made using a smaller antique brass door knob I got for $5 and a Traditions ramrod extension/bullet starter I've had lying around. 20241201_155835.jpg20241201_155911.jpg20241201_155723.jpg

Good job, did you use the set screw in the knob or solder it? I have made a couple dozen range rods over the years using old brass and glass knobs, they seem to have dried up locally at yards sales as everybody now thinks they are VALUABLE antiques and have them listed on feebay for 20 bux each or even more,

This knob had an integral stem that was all part of the bottom, which itself held in place by the base of the knob being folded over. Someone had cut the stem off almost flush, so I ground the nub smooth, then drilled and tapped for the extension. The extension's threads have a slight shoulder keeping it from sitting flush, so I added a washer that also overlaps the folded egde and will reinforce the whole piece.
