I have a Thompson Center arms 50 cal Hawkins black powder rifle . I’m extremely new to the sport . First can I use the 50 cal 250 grain spire point shockwave controlled expansion bullets with this rifle?

You technically can, but why? Get some .490 round balls, .015 linen patches, and load with 60 grains of Swiss 3f or Pyro P, measured by volume, and go blast some targets or kill the biggest deer you have ever seen. Really, don't make it complicated. Take that barrel out and clean it with hot, soapy water. No need for exotic concoctions.

FYI - so you don't look like a rookie I am directing you on the right path. The gun you referenced should be called a Hawken. The brothers were Samuel and Jacob Hawken. Single or plural it is still a Hawken.
