This is one of two rifles I purchased from the estate of the late Dr. Ed Kollar. I wanted to keep it, but doesn't fit me well. Dr. Kollar had the rifle built by the late Phil "Bluejacket" Sanders, formerly of Green River Rifle Works. It is based on what is believed to be an original J&S Hawken rifle that Dr. Kollar documented in a 1979 Buckskin Report article. This rifle replicates the original in almost every detail. It has a .50 slightly swamped 38.25" barrel with 1:66ish twist. Bore us excellent. Dark stained Maple stock with grease hole like a Southern Mountain Rifle. LOP is 13.5". Iron fittings. Rifle weighs about 9.3 lbs. Dr.Kollar electropenciled information on buttplate indicating it was a copy of a ca. 1825 J&S Hawken rifle. Below is a discussion of the rifle on the American Longrifles forum.
