I'm not a black powder guy by any means however I thought I'd start here since it seems like maybe a good place to start. Anyway he was mainly a modern firearms guy and I helped his widow, Margie, dispose of a number of really nice handguns and rifles and also some custom knives, all at no charge - every cent has gone to her.
While he was stationed in Colorado in 1981 he purchased a 54cal Hawken made by Ozark Mountain Arms, it has a beautiful Birdseye maple stock and has never been fired, it has spent it's lifetime on the wall according to his widow. She gave me the receipt and it shows a AAA spec set option, whatever that means. He paid $805 delivered from the factory back then, I figure it's worth more than that now but no idea how much more.
