Howdy everybody. I have been looking online at smoothbore flintlocks and I think for me a 1816 would fit the bill well. I mostly just want a shooter and it seems like they made a ton of these and theyre pretty available. I have seen people online say to avoid the Reconversion guns, is there any particular reason why? are they alot less reliable than the non converted ones or is it a collectors value issue?

collector value on that end. on the shooter end quality of work is main issue. were the parts that need to be hardened and tempered [frizzen, springs ect.] done or just fit on for show? if they were tempered was it done properly? was the barrel fit to shoot in the first place? were the springs done properly? .ect. ect.

That makes alot of sense I appreciate the insight, maybe a replica is the way to go on one of these then.
