    First shot confidence

roundball LOL your not the first person to tell me that on a lot of things,LOL :rotf: yeah I probably am. I just like to get it the best I can. Hey it's way close enough for deer, and rabbit. Of course the first shot is the important one anyway. Hey how do you subscribe to a topic? I...

    First shot confidence

In the overall sceem of things it's not that awful much maybe 2inches. Now that is from a clean barrel to a field cleaned second shot barrel. I do my "field cleaning" after every shot. If I had to shoot as fast as possible as a second shot I load and fire. I would rather be able to field...

    First shot confidence

Be careful with hot water. It has a tendency to rust the barrel real fast. When I say fast I mean by the time you get a chance to dry the barrel you may see some brown stuff on the patch. Thats rust. Use warm or cold water to clean. The problem is first shot confidence. How to insure the...

    First shot confidence

How about one of the 209 primer conversions? I was thinkin about shooting on of them to clear the barrel then put the regular nipple back in. I'm petty sure they are not corrosive. Or how about musket caps? Are they that much hotter? If they are normal precautions and using a musket cap...

    First shot confidence

Most of the time I have just discharged in the field especially if you use a fouling shot. If you have a clean barrel you can blow the charge out with a compressor and keep the clean barrel.

    .32 bore light

Well I had one..... Long story short but we "were" goin to move and I lost it. I fellow across the pond made them. He was kind enough to send me one many years ago. Sure would love to have another. I guess if we really thought about it we could make one. Years ago I put a tiny light use...

    First shot confidence

I guess part of the question is are the caps corrosive?

    First shot confidence

I have been workin on some things to insure my first shot will fire from a clean barrel. I really would rather not fire a fouling shot. Does anyone load the clean rife and go hunting? I know I'm probably just lazy but cleaning the rifle after a day of hunting without needing to fire the thing...

    surgical tube cleaning

At one time I bought a cleaning kit that had an adaptor and a piece of surgical tube. You screwed the adaptor into the nipple threads and attached the surgical tube. You then put one end of the surgical tube in a bucket and the suction of the ramrod drew the water into the barrel for cleaning...

    T/C set trigger adjustment

roundball Thanks for the info. Yeah it seems real heavy. I just measured it with my Lyman trigger pull gauge. This thing is about the heaviest trigger I have ever had. Trigger pull it 8.7 lbs!!! Now with the set trigger it's 1.2 lbs. There must be something in there like you said. I'll...

    Round Ball or Conical

Ok I know I can be starting a war here and this is a bit like religion but just interested to hear what ya have to say. I have been hunting muzzleloaders for more years than I care to remember. The vast majority has been with conicals. I have always used them basicly for one reason. I find...
