what is the best production made flintlock?

the smooth barrel is also .54 and no i did not have to do anything to the stock but i had to do a little fileing on the hook to make it fit. it shoots #5 shot in a quite tight pattern and i am able to shoot ducks, geese and chicken hawks quite well with it.

    .54 hitting power

Thank you FOR the immediate reply RB, very impressive info. recently i wounded a 2 year old bull moose and lost it. i feel awful about it. i hit it high in the hump at about 60-70 yards, he did not even shudder but instantly took off on a flat out gallop which a moose seldom does, very little...

    patches as wads??

could someone please tell me if it would work o.k. if i used heavy denim patches instead of the proper wads, for example load powder then heavy lubed patch, then load shot and use a heavy denim patch on top of shot as an over shot card. i am shooting #5 lead shot in a .54 smoothbore.

    steel shot info. needed

I have a .54 smoothbore and want to hunt grouse but all we are allowed is steel shot, is it possible to use this in a smoothbore? if so, how? I am worried it would "clog-up" in the barrel and possibly split or bulge the barrel. how do you fellows use steel shot? up here in northern B.C. it is...

    .54 GPR accuracy

I shoot PRB .0018 pillow ticking patches .530 RB but about 2 years ago i shot a pile of buffalo ballets, kind of a half conical bullet with no patches required. i think that is what may have fouled up my bore but i have also blown out thousands of patches before finding a proper patch material...
