    i was in a gun shop in west tn. they had 5-6 ML rifles there most all were $50.00 all had junk bores. i have seen recent ads for CVA's for $100.00

    i bought a CVA sharp shooter a few mo. back also for $50.00 the bore looks like a sewer pipe. gob's of rust. every other parts look like new. i wore out 2 bore brushes trying to clean up the bore still looks just as bad as before . if you get it cleaned up let me know how you did it.

    i bought what i could afford. some times that works sometimes it don't. i will find out soon when i take it to the range. if i can keep them all in a paper plate at 100 yards after working on a good load. that works for me. if not oh well. i might find a good barrel . but i will take donations...

    let me know how it worked for you. i think if i go to the hardware store get a few brass flat washers and use a allen head screw and get the washers a but smaller than the bore and use a ram rod with the washers on the ram rod i can scrape away that ring of crud..

    looks like i found my problem with my cleaning patches sticking. theres a ring in front of the breach plug.i guess thats was the powder line where the bullet seated against the powder. i found a way to make a bore light for my side lock. what i did was remove the screw in the side of the (snail)...

    well today i found it. darn thing was 3 feet away you can see better when your not seeing red. no not married.i only used about 2-3 gr. of powder if that.

    so you think i should stay away from any thing other than real black powder. thats cool with me love the smell of the real thing. darn rod is a mystery to me cant find it any where. found the wad bu not the rod and jag.i could loose a horse in a phone booth. :haha:

    only reason i used the #13 stuff is it came in a T/C starter kit. i just the cva sharp shooter today. just wanted to clean it real good . who knows how long it sat in the gun shop. there was surface rust down the bore that i could not see in the shop. it is a decent looking gun real nice wood...

    in a different post i talked about a CVA plainsman 50 cal rifle. well i did not get that . what i did buy used was a CVA sharpshooter 50 cal uses # caps. when i got it home i started to clean it up good. thats when all heck broke loose. the bore was rusted up some so i kept spraying PB blaster...
