    What Lube for Revolver if Any

    Having just picked up an 1858 Pietta I need advice about lubes for it. I've read a lot about using crisco, axel grease, etc. to prevent chainfires. If when seating the ball you shave a ring off and you use a lubed over powder wad, I would assume the cylinder is sealed. Did our forefathers go...

    New to Me Pietta 1858 Remington

    The pistol is a brass frame and came with a case, holster, nipple wrench, powder measure, caps, wads, cleaning patches, capper, all for $155. I have experience with a number of modern weapons and have a Hawkens .54 percussion which I really like. I hope this helps in getting some answers. Roger

    I'm looking for a small game rifle preferably a.36 cal. as that is the largest we can use for small game in this state. I have a .54 Hawken for deer and shooting at the range. Not looking to spend a lot maybe aroun $200, any ideas? Thanks Roger
