    WANTED WTB or trade for

I am in need of a large Siler flintlock for a project. I would prefer finding a used one in usable condition. Project has a tite budget, for a friend and if the lock is ok, it would be ok. I'd like to find one for $100 to $150, but I realize that may be a problem. But much more and may as well...

FS is a US Springfield Model 1863 musket that I believe to be Bannerman modified post Civil War. I have seen several just like this one over the years, they are all alike. Bored to smooth bore / stock shortened. This is the best one I have seen, is in good condition, functional and could be...

    Wild Willie

Wild Willy Frankfurt is a remarkable craftsman, and an even great fellow. I have known him for many years and have a couple horns of his from "way back" in the 90's and earlier. Even then they were great work. You will never go wrong with Willy.

    Beaver Tail bags or Pouches?

I got my paws on a few RAW frozen large beaver tails, which of course look like the shape of a bag or pouch? But I can't say I ever heard of anyone making a bag from a beaver tail. It would need skinned and tanned of course. Any one know of any such bags or anyone trying to make anything??? Thanks

    Pietta revolver problem.....???

Thanks friends for the knowledgable advice. I had figured that the hand was too long but didnt want to experiment. I would have compared it to the original hand length but my friend who owns the pistol didnt bring it back with him. It took two tries but now the gun functions correctly, we even...

Got a 36 cal model 1851 Pietta revolver that had broken spring on the hand. Got a replacement and installed simple enough. BUT now the gun will not full cock when all assembled. When I take the barrel and cylinder off it full cocks and everything else like it should. Any ideas what could be the...

13/16" Barrel, which lock size ??

I am making a Pa style, Lancaster more or less. I might try some trickery with the stock to make it similiar to a bucks Co if I can. The wood I am using has a few "issues" and this is as much a practice as anything. Thogh I am trying my best, its just been along time since I built a rifle. I...

13/16" Barrel, which lock size ??

Am beginning a 36 cal rifle which is 13/16" across the flats. Always figured using either a large Siler lock or a L&R Classic, both of which I already have. Just bought Dixons book on building Pa longrifles and he really dont address the subject. But might either of those locks give me trouble...

    Under lug pin size

Interesting conversation. I have a little angle on this subject? I just finished reading an article on this and they suggested slotting the pin holes in the tenon? Where can I get a file that small? And is it really necessary?, And if so, how long a slot? Thanks all

    Touch Hole Location & Size..??

Thanks so much to all. Very informative. Just a few things. When I laid out the lock I positioned the center of the pan so that it's center was just ahead of the breach plug face. And in height figuring the top of pan at center line of barrel. So I think I'll be ok according to what you all...
