cast my first bullet ever, critiques?
Looks pretty good, but keep in mind many people chuck the first couple dozen until the mold achieves full temperature. I have that same style Lee mold for the .375 130 grain bullet. Availability of Percussion Caps
I bet you can anneal copper. I know about annealing (softening) metals like steel, brass, and aluminum. All have their own procedure of hearing (steel cherry red, aluminum, just hot enough to burn off carbon left from a carburizing flame.). I'd have to check on copper, but it sounds like it...- bpalbee

Uberti 1862 Police
Caswell sells a brush on electroplating kit (uses a little power supply with alligator clips) you dip in the liquid and brush it on. Easier than fitting some odd back strap to your revolver -
Availability of Percussion Caps
The 1 part Duco and approx 8 parts Acetone liquid mixture has been very good for reliability of my caps. Pat Marlin is developing better dies to make tighter fitting cups currently also- bpalbee

I've been using the Duco diluted with acetone, but I have some tite-group laying around. Some early caps I made following the 22sharpshooter instructions and I think that binder was dextrose? It wasn't sufficient in my opinion, I didn't like the way the compound crumbled out of the caps when...- bpalbee

I like the way these are looking, for me the problem isn't aesthetic so much as practical. During hunting season in my area there is a lot of temperature swings and humidity. The compound I'm using seems to be quickly degraded in cold, wet weather. Those wrinkles in the sides of the Tap o Cap...- bpalbee

I think my local home depot has the .007 aluminum in big rolls cheap, I was looking for .014 for my 30-30 gas checks and I see you found they had it at ace, thanks. Thanks for the advice on center drilling the retaining pin and bumping up the thread ends with a burnishing tool. I hadn't heard of that before but it seems like a great way to tighten the fit without losing any strength. -

I think "running fine" means different things to different people 😁. I'm planning on just dabbing some melted steel on the end of the arbor with ye old TIG matchine and filing away until I'm pleased with the fit. Anybody else doing it that way? I will post pictures as I do it if people are... -

The problem I noticed with the short arbors is they allow the barrel wedge to pull the forcing cone directly against the cylinder face when tapped into place, which is bad for reliability and can jam the weapon easily. It also allows the wedge to pivot the barrel upwards as it is tightened... -
