    Getting 'Bess Ready for Turkey Season

    When I used my brown Bess carbine on a turkey 2 years ago I used 100 grams 2f, shot card fiber wad, paper shot cup I made, shot card on that, the shot I used was xr long beard 12 ga. shot I cut out with the clear cristals in it. Was on a guided hunt a wanted something I new would reach out there.

    You talking to me? Mine is a 1862 Springfield percussion from civil war area. Had a new barrel made for it and used it for turkey hunting and deer hunting.

    It needs to be about 3” wide. The front for right hand no buckle or anything in the way and an extra matching piece of leather that I can sew on block pocket, ball starter and other things. The strap leather match the double ball bag.

    I have a Lyman Great Plains barrel that was 45 cal. And was bored out to 20 ga. Don’t have a gun to change this barrel to. Don’t know anything about how it was done and don’t have any use for it. Anyone have any suggestions for it let me know.

    I understand powder, bar ball, and wasp’s nest or other stuff. To be fast and easier. Doing what you are doing seems slower and more work what’s the reason? Haven’t been into this a long time and trying to figure out why thangs are done certain ways. Just curious
