Here is What I Love About Muzzleloading

I enjoy doing things myself. I put my smoothbore together my self. I cast my own balls, and make up paper cartridges. It is to me more satisfying working up an accurate load for a muzzleloader than reloading for the modern stuff. Black powder smells a lot better than smokeless!

Have my eye on a nice ML buck this year.

At my age I realize that outsmarting ant animal on it's home ground is a trophy. I can't eat the antlers, and at the price of Biden Beef, any meat is welcome.

    How heavy is too heavy?

Anymore I like them as light as I can get it. At 80 yrs. old, and more metal parts in my body then most new cars, if it isn't around 7lbs. or less I am just going for a walk in the woods by myself.

I agree with Oldwood . Years ago a friend told me of his experience with Permethrin. He went fishing with another friend, he had treated his clothes with Repel he got from wally world. He told me that the ticks were jumping from him to the other guy. I've used repel ever since and have not been...

Do You Actually Use Your Expensive Custom Guns or Keep Them as Safe Queens?

If I could afford something that fancy, I'm sure that a bill for a necessity would come up. I get nervous when thing go right!

    Poor man’s guns

I would like to know how many antique wrought iron forge welded barrels could be Magnafluxed or X-rayed and not show a flaw in the forge weld? Anybody know what the tensile strength of a wrought iron barrel is? Not looking to argue, just curious.

    Why are smokepoles so awesome?

Love old ways and the smell of black powder. Gave my modern ones to my son. I also gave him all of my reloading stuff. I have a couple of hundred pounds of lead and am contemplating making my own black. I can walk some streams to find rocks that will spark. What happens if they outlaw ammo...

    Wheel weight lead question

I remember the Bevel Bros. tested WW round balls out of rifles and found no difference in accuracy. When I'm casting I keep a fan at my back to blow the fumes out of the door. As far as expansion goes, that's why I use a smooth 62 cal. I don't need no stinkin expansion! I remember living in...

    Breech Plugs

I have a smooth jawed monkey wrench like the one pictured above. I've never needed a breech plug "socket" to remove a breech plug. My vice is an older one with 6 inch jaws, and weighs about 50 lbs. . I have taken apart WWI rifles from 1916 with no problems.
