Friends, our 2nd Amendment rights are always under attack and the NRA has been a constant for decades in helping fight that fight.
We have partnered with the NRA to offer you a discount on membership and Muzzleloading Forum gets a small percentage too of each membership, so you are supporting both the NRA and us.
I do a ton of powdercoating for all my cartridge guns. It's really an amazing, effective form of lubrication. I powdercoat 1 conical for my .40 flintlock, but always lubed them, never tried them dry. Sounds like it's worth looking into.
The only way I can see removing a hooked breech barrel would be if you were using a reciever sight that stays on the tang seperate from the barrel. Combine that with a sloppy fitting barrel, and POI would probably change a bit. As long as sights and barrel are one unit, it should stay sighted...
Looks great, is it possible you still had oil in the bore/nipples/flash channels? Then not to offend the pyrodex guys, but I would suggest trying some real Black Powder in ffg, or fffg granulation if you can find it. I have never found any substitute powders that were as fast or reliable as the...
Hi, anybody have a .570 roundball mold by Lyman for sale? I have a lee .575, and .562, and can't get either to work in my Kibler Colonial .58. I'm definantly not interested in the dixie bag molds, pretty much only something with a sprue plate. Thanks
Bore condition is #1. A lot of online sellers are either lazy or crooked when it comes to bore descriptions. They say "Can't see the rifling, it's a muzzleloader". I'm a redneck, and even I know about drop in bore lights.
One other possibility. I had a .32 Traditions deerhunter that shot like manure with every combo I tried. Until I put an overpowder wad in the load, then it shot some outstanding groups. I believe the rifling was sharp, and was cutting patches, the wad offered enough protection to mitigate the...
Deep fried dandelion flowers.(extremely good), ramps, morel mushrooms, puffball mushrooms, walnuts, butternuts, hickory nuts, maple syrup from our maple trees, black raspberries, blackberries and wild asparagus.
I bet it's too much lube on your patches. I saw it myself with a .36 kibler using a thick, heavy patch lube. As soon as I switched to light olive oil, I started getting cloverleafs at 25yd. If it's a rice barrel, there can't be much wrong with it.
Pretty darn accurate little rifles. However, you probably saved yourself some trouble by buying it assembled. I did a kit for my son, lets just say mine was apparently boxed up on a friday.
I don't know about you all, but I've always found being exclusive and generally offensive is the best way to attract new shooters to this sport. At least I found another name for the ignore list.
It's hard to not love TC's. The only criticism's I would say is their current prices, and the number of cracked stocks you find. I have several Hawkens and Renegades, a cherokee,a seneca, new englanders in .50 and 12ga, and a few Green Mountain barrels in .32, .36, .40, .50, .54, and .62...
I think thats exactly what it is! I looked them up, and icluded a pic from a sale ad. looks exactly like what I have here. Thanks! Still curious as to why its a touch longer, unless it's an unfinished second as you suggested. I just tried it in my blued ROA, and it wont pass into the window...
