    Starting GPR kit

    I just built the GPR two weeks ago. I needed to drive out the pins on the nose to remove the gaps. I used larger pins when I was done. The tang area is the worse area because of the beval that runs around the top of the tang.

    Chambers Kit V. Dunlap Woodcraft

    I am thinking about my next project. I want to build an Issac Haines “C” in 54. I am considering ether a Chambers kit or a Dunlap Woodcraft kit. I here the Chambers kit has problems with the ramrod hole interference with the lock bolt. Anyone have any experience with these kits?

    SCRAPING OR SANDING

    I did a web search and Sandpaper was patented by Isaac Fischer Jr, Springfield, Vermont on June 14, 1834. I would guess like powder horns scraping was used on older firearms.

    GPR Tang question?

    The tang on the GPR kit has a bevel running down both sides on the top. This would seem to make a clean wood to metal fit impossible. Anyone ever resolve the problem or have suggestions on how to correct it?

    My GPR 54 kit should arrive today. Anyone have any ideas on improvments to the kit? I was thanking of replaceing the sights. I just want it to be a little different than stock.

    I just ordered my GPR kit today in 54. This will be my first rifle kit. At what period did they start using blueing instead of browning? Any comments on building this kit would be helpful.
