    wood stove size?

I spent many night cold night in a ten man tent in the winter here in Alaska. I recommend the Yukon stove. Works great on fuel oil or wood. All parts fit inside the stove itself for easy travel.Very portable. Heat it enough to keep a golf ball size cherry red spot in the middle of the stove...

    Rifle Kits

I am a lucky man. After shooting mine, my wife wants one of her own for christmas. Fitted to her and carved from a blank with a flower patchbox no less. She has already found a priming flask! Long walks in the woods looking for grouse is what convinced her. She thinks it's romantic.Come to...

    Antique Rifle restore our parts?

Thanks for your input guys. I have decided to give this gun a second chance. It's appears to have taken care of more than a few generations of shooters. It seems only right I return the favor. I will take zonie's advice and proof test the barrel assembly. The breech plug is a half inch long an...

    Antique Rifle restore our parts?

Would you repair or part out this rifle? The barrel is stamped "Jones rifle works" and "Landas 21" on the top flat and .38 on the bottom. The bore is dark but the rifling seems strong. The powder drum was blown in half it failed at it's weakest point. My guess after a century of...

    Jones Rifle Works?

I couldn't refuse for $60. :surrender: I just purchased what appears to be an antique barn gun. I will post photos soon. It has a walnut full stock, double set triggers and an early style triggerguard. Jones Rifle Works is engraved on the barrel near the breach. Also marked on the barrel is...

    old bottle corks

Instead of cork I whittled a stopper out of scrap maple. Slightly tapered and out or round,it locks into my antique bottle with a twist. I also have it attached to the bottle with a strip of leather so I don't lose the little bugger. Hold 4f powder just fine I haven,t tried with liquids though...

Cable has got it right skin first. I skin one side then remove that sides quarters and head, roll the carcass, skin and remove the remaining quarters. When you are ready to gut the ribs hopefully your partner is quick cooling and cleaning the quarters at a nearby cool running stream. Cable is...

    olde tyme smoothe bore accuracy

Speaking of colonial thought process.I don't think we can discount their concept of providence, that is if they did their part the good lord provides. It doesn,t seem to me they would waste much resources refining a shot group.

    Winter project

You seem to have narrowed it down. With your capabilities you should consider building form a blank. Make your own mistakes instead of fixing others. :rotf: I have used track of the wolf for three builds. I never had any problems with their shipping or quality.

My first FAF has about 35 rounds shot with no sign of slowing down. Used on a small siler I built from a kit. 20 rounds was the most I got using store bought english flint on this lock. French Amber Flints are the only thing french I like.

    Handling lead, dangerous?

I worked a couple of years working in a pre osha radiator shop. lead is bad for you, it can wreck you teeth below the gumline and give you a bad disposition. However it's dangers are overhype. Just use common sense and limit your exposure when you can. I noticed somewhere militia guards were...

    Longhunter a Conservationist?

I come from a familiy line that spent 13 generations on the american frontier. I am including the current generation here in the last frontier.
