    A lemon?

Still wrestling with my pietta 1851 Navy. Went to the range today. First shot was fine--even hit close to bullseye. The next 4 couldn't get the ball through the cylinder. I used 20 grains 3F pyrodex my .375 RB and a wad. had problems with this revolver since I got it. Think I've got myself a...

    cylinder replacement

I have a Pietta 1851 Navy and 'm looking for another cylinder that will fit this 1994 model. checked with Old South and they said theirs will not fit guns made before 2000. i'm guessing this will be a problem with other suppliers. Any suggestions on where to look? thanks

    barrel wedge

On my Pietta 1851 Navy, when the barrel wedge is pushed all the way through, the gun won't cock. if I pull it out a little so it's not sticking out on the right side of the revolver, it cocks. anyone else have this problem? and is it ok to shoot with the wedge part way out as long as the barrel...

    replacement nipples

funny thing is i found #10s last week and ordered them--1,000 of em. so i think I'll stick with them for the 1851 since they're just as good. However, it would be easier to use the same caps for my revolver and rifle.

    replacement nipples

I want to replace the nipples on my Pietta 1851 Navy (.36 cal. mfred in 1994). Which would be the best fit. I get different answers from vendors. track of the wolf says theirs, which takes #11 caps is correct. but always been told #10 caps are best for this model gun. And are there different...

    pietta .36 Navy problem

I'm using the Pyrodex P . Funny thing is the Pietta material I downloaded suggested 9-12 grains. I had a feeling it was too light. Also, considering using wads between powder and ball. The lube I used today in the cylinder is really messy. And I will switch to BP when I can get it.

    pietta .36 Navy problem

first time at the range was a disaster. it was thoroughly cleaned before taking it out. I am using a .375 ball and 10 grains Pyrodex with #10 caps (the caps fired). the couple of times the gun fired, the ball simply got stuck at the rear entrance to the barrel. Is this a matter of too small a...
