    Scope Mounts

Bought a leupold scout type mount for my renegade from Ebay a few months back. It bolts on to the barrel where the rear site sits. No gunsmithing needed, and I can go back to open sites when I want to. The barrel is a gm. It requires a pistol scope. It is a neat little set up for those of us...

    GM barrel cleanout screw?

HD I am with you. I take out the clean out screw when I clean my gun. I have even lost one  Called GM and they sent me 3 new ones for the cost of postage. I am sure I will not be able to find them when I misplace another. James

Nice gun. It looks like an 1853 Enfield too me, but I am far from an expert. James

    New Ohio deer limit

My point is that Ohio already has a very restricted early ML season (you can only hunt certain very limited areas) why not start a early (no restricted area) traditional ml season. I think that we could increase the kill, many hunters would participate even if they had to use a dreaded side...

    clays

Met some friends for some informal clay bird shooting. Brought my treehawk/newenglander and decided to give it a try. 1st shot with full choke was a miss. Next ten shots with imp cyl smoked each bird. What a blast. Anyone else ever try clays with their bp shotgun? James

    Introducing outsiders

Made a trip with four others for turkey season this year. On the drive everyone talked about their choice of firearm. I was the only bp hunter in the group. The others said how hard those bp guns are to get them to go off, or I should at least have the sense to use a more moderen type of bp...

    Word of Thanks

I am new at this aand never questioned the prelubed shot wads, but now that I am using the over-shot cards only, what is the purpose of the lube? James

    Word of Thanks

I dont know the physics of the reason it gets better patterns with the lighter over-shot cards. But in my cases the difference in the pattern was huge. I would suggest that if your bp shotgun has a wide pattern try the over-shot card only method. I did not punch holes in the cards just loaded...

    Word of Thanks

Was out at the range working up shot loads for turkey. Used the four over-shot cards over the powder then shot with single over-shot card and saw a huge improvement in my pattern. Even had my friend with screw-in choke New Englander doing the same and he improved an already impressive pattern...

    #11 caps

I was down at my hunting property last week and stopped by to see how my neighbor did during deer season. We said he had a huge buck in his sites during ml season pulled the trigger an his cap was frozen and failed to go off. I dont remeber it being very cold this year during ml and have never...

    smooth bore choke

I agree with the jug choke idea. I have had good success using my cyl. bore Renegade, I just have to let them get close (20-25 yrds). I had never seen anyone shoot a gun that had removable chokes. When I saw him removing the choke after putting in the powder I thought about the hand over the...

    smooth bore choke

I was at the range making up a load for my 20 ga for turkey season. Another man was there doing the same for his 12 ga that had the screw in chokes. I watched him load and he would pour his powder down, remove the choke, put his wads and shot down, then screw the choke back in, cap the gun and...

    New Ohio deer limit

I am glad someone agrees with me. I am going to Email the Ohio DNR and see if I get a responce as to a primative mz season vs just allowing bow hunters to kill extra does. James

    New Ohio deer limit

Hi Did anyone see the new proposed deer limits in Ohio for deer during the early bow season? Instead I think they should make it a primative ml season (side lock, round ball, no scope). I dont think most bow hunters are after the extra does. A primative ml season may put more hunters in the...

    guns that fire

Ok I will try again. My friend and I went hunting on the last day of muzzel loading season here in Ohio. We met at the car after seeing no deer. As always I unloaded my Renegade by shooting it. My friend who was using the new smokeless Savage fired his and just got a pop. Upon futher...
