    Herman Rupp 1793 Build

Beautifully done. That's not an easy kit. I have that very same kit which I've had for several years. I bought it with hopes of having more time to work on some muzzleloader projects and then work exploded. When we are able to hire more help and I eventually get my life back, I'd love to get...

Kibler has announced a Hawken Kit in the works.

Don't get me wrong, I really like what Kibler Longrifles is doing, but it's a pretty small sliver of the population that enjoys muzzleloaders. It's an even smaller sliver that likes historic flintlock longrifles. It's a very "niche" market.

Netting 28 ga Fowler Disassembled - Detailed Photos

I'm no expert but I think I'd just mildly clean everything, oil up the lock, clean the inside of the barrel real good, maybe wax the stock, and let it be. Some of those parts look like they were probably artificially aged when it was built. What an awesome pawn shop find. I need to stop in...

    James Lowe 1740 Pistols. Shootable?

Those look like museum quality pistols, the threads at the breech look perfect. No pitting on the barrels or locks, no stock wood damage. I'd still want to shoot them if they were mine, though.

    "Restoring" a basket case original.

I hate when threads go this way. Not every piece of sh!t rifle is a historical gem worthy of spending thousands of dollars to conserve. I have an 1840's to 1850's Ohio rifle with a Biddle lock that was my dad's, it needed a bit of work to be a shooter and since it was old and original, I sent it...

    Kibler

I've emailed a couple times to find out and they may have a standard response but last reply I got was a Hawken is about 2 years out. I agree it would make sense to be an older full stock flintlock version but who knows, they may try to open up their market a bit and go with a half stock...

Is Kibler a Sponsor of this site?

Yeah, things seemed to take a turn and get a little heated. Although I would not think Kibler's Longrifles owes anything to this or any other muzzleloader site, I wouldn't have thought it worth getting too worked up over the question. As a side, I own a Kibler Colonial kit which I have yet to...

    Real Hawken or not?

I've done deep searches through every house I've ever owned and all I ever found was termites.

    An Early Vermont Rifle

    That's a beauty, well done.

    Chambers Virginia Rifle

    That's a beautiful rifle, I like it a lot.

    Finally ordered a Kibler Woodsrunner!

I have a .54 Colonial Kibler kit that I haven't built yet but was on the edge of ordering a Woodsrunner when they started taking orders. The only thing that stopped me was that I heard they may be doing a Hawken next or possibly a smoothbore fowler. I'd really like to see what kind of Hawken kit...

    ...12 years later!

Awesome job. I've got a 1793 Herman Rupp kit I got from Muzzleloader Builder's Supply several years ago and am in the same boat. I hope when I feel up to it, mine turns out as well as yours did.

    Chambers New England Fowler Finished!

Nice work, it should age beautifully and become quite a family heirloom.

    Kibler Colonial build

An excellent build. Those Kibler kits were a great thing for the ordinary guy that wanted a custom quality flintlock. Most guys can't really afford to have a custom builder make a rifle for them and don't really have the skills to build one from a plank by themselves. I did a Chambers kit (not...

    The Rifle Shoppe

I waited just over 20 months for an assembled Virginia Manufactory lock.

Jim Kibler got it to me quickly

I went to Colonial Williamsburg once and sat at the armory and listened to the guy talk about it. Seems to me he stated that they kept blue painted guns there. I forget the reason but seems like he mentioned drilling with the younger militia members. Also, Clay Smith has some painted stock guns...

    Kibler price increase

They took down my name for the rifle after the Woodsrunner so they'll definitely put you on the list for that one.

    Colonial rifle build for authenticity

Wow, this thread went way off track right from the beginning. It didn't seem necessary to beat the guy up over wording. I knew it was a Kibler kit but it was well executed, nothing wrong with that. It was kind of disappointing to see how this unfolded. I guess everyone is an expert. Now it's...

1781ish?- the whole Kit and Kaboodle

I was curious as well. I was understanding that this was thought to be an original 18th century set but had to wonder based on the condition of the leather. I have never seen leather that old seem to be that supple. So this is a 1981 set? I think I'll look into Gary Birch, looks like outstanding...

How do you carry your muzzleloader pistol?

Tucked in your belt looks cool in the movies but I don't think I'd trust that method for several reasons. I like that holster from The Leatherman. If you're comfortable stitching leather, that looks like it would be pretty easy to make.
