Allen Box Lock or English Rigby Build

They still have both listed on their website, so, at this point, I am assuming they are both available. Before you changed your mind, did you note any special challenges regarding the Allen project you had? Thanks for your input.

    Browning Rear Sight

Building my first kit with a traditional fixed sight and am wondering if I should brown the rear sight, and, if so, should I brown in separate or in place. If browning is not recommended, what do you guys do with the rear sight? Thanks, Dale

    Barrel Inletting Question

Hi everyone, building my first kit--from Pecatonica River--and have a quick question regarding barrel inlet. I have inlet the breech tang and tidied up the barrel channel (barrel is a 15/16 straight from Rice) and am getting good contact at the muzzle and breech. However, I have somewhere...

Next Move to Improve Build Skills

Oldwood, I do have Dixon's excellent book. I also have the Gunsmith of Grenville County. I have read both cover-to-cover and understand all the concepts. Just a little hesitant to jump into a complete build. I most certainly agree with keeping it simple and power free. Electing to only use...

What did I do wrong with GPR

Bore and breech were thoroughly cleaned, and don’t think the patch was to tight.

What did I do wrong with GPR

In central Florida, so very humid here, so maybe that had something to do with it. I also did have the wiping patches pretty wet. Mine is a percussion rifle

What did I do wrong with GPR

Just finished a Lyman GPR, my first black powder arm, and took it to the range. Very tight group at 25yds with 60gr Swiss 2f, but on 8th round, rifle would not fire. I found patent breech to be totally clogged with fouling. What did I do wrong?? Was using 495 ball with dried moose juice .015...

Respiratory reaction. Can't stop coughing and sinus become very irritated. Not sure what ingredient causes it; just know I am not voluntarily going near the stuff ever again. Almost had to visit the ER.
