    I have a Brown Bess...

Even as deep as the proofs are on the stock you think it was sanded and refinished? I don't know enough about these old Muskets to say either way so I'll take your word for it.

    I have a Brown Bess...

The "DC" stands for Dublin CITY, not Dublin Castle. I remember reading about the Dublin Castle marked Muskets and I know my Musket is not one of those.

    I have a Brown Bess...

It's a "DC" was told it means Dublin City. I was also told it was definitely an Irish Registry number.

    I have a Brown Bess...

The number on the brass looked like a "newish" font to me as well but I didn't know the Irish were still marking firearms like that. The Brits who saw it didn't indicate either way. The number on the barrel marked over the Regimental markings looks older. There is a name scratched on the stock...

Still for sale. Buyer backed out. Apparently you need to send this type of "non-firearm" to an FFL in Massachusetts? Hmm, so glad I live in Florida.

WITHDRAWN Cal. 44 Navy Model... price DROP! $175 Shipped

Sorry. I've answered that question a couple of times but it was in "messages" and I neglected to put it in the thread. My bad. It's Brass. I'm only selling it because it was in my safe wasting away. I must have bought it when they were more valuable. The "date code" is "AH". The other marks are...

No makers mark I can find. Marked "C.O.M". On the bottom of the barrel. Everything else are proofmarks or information.

WITHDRAWN Cal. 44 Navy Model... price DROP! $175 Shipped

I have a 44cal. Italian made Navy Model Percussion Revolver. I know nothing about it. I bought it from a Lady who was cleaning out her Father's house after he passed away. Like the musket I listed earlier I don't think this has ever been fired. The bore and cylinder looks good... a little dusty...

SOLD Saddle-ring smoothbore Musket made in India (SPF)

I have this smooth bore short musket I'd like to part with. Made in India. I know nothing about these but I found some pictures of the same model online. Looks like it was made in 1972 because that'swhat is marked on the barrel along with a lot of other information. I bought it several years ago...

    I have a Brown Bess...

I was able to take a few very blurry pictures of the breech from inside with the cheap bore scope I got on Amazon. It's not quite as pristine looking as I thought looking down the bore from the muzzle. However, the very back of the breech is in the white and quite clean looking. I was also able...

    I have a Brown Bess...

Ah... I wondered if its Irish Lineage would cause conventional wisdom to be thrown out the window. I also know there is a lot of speculation and mis-information when it comes to definitions and "absolutes" regarding antique firearms. Sometimes a feature can be correct, even if it's rarely or...

    Newbie....

In the "Firearm Identification" section I started a thread called "I have a Brown Bess..." Not sure if that's where I should have posted it but I'm still trying to learn about its origin.

    I have a Brown Bess...

Bore looks like a new Shotgun! Pretty thick at the muzzle too. With a small flashlight at the muzzle you can see the back of the breech and it looks like new steel. I haven't shot it because I "think" it may have never been shot. But I don't know how to verify that. I recently bought a bore...

    Newbie....

I wish it was that easy! Unfortunately, along with it comes things like Skin Cancer. Having been a Lifeguard, Surfer and Beach Volleyball player I speak from experience.
