    1816 cone in barrel conversion

Nipple threads look ok-ish they still need some more cleaning and they might be a little shallow but they sure held the original nipple in tight. Can I drill it all out and redo threads for larger nipple if they make one? I have read some threads that suggest helicoils as a fix but people...

Hello, I recently purchased a cut down 1816 Belgian Cone in barrel Conversion musket and I am in the processes of cleaning and evaluation. After much persuasion I got the nipple off and this is what I found, I am not familiar with this style of musket so I was wondering if the metal at the...

    Replacement Brown Bess lock

Just an update I did get the lock back and it seems to be working as it should. I will order some surface hardening compound and harden all of the working surfaces. I would like to try my hand at tuning the lock myself, I know I well need to polish the contact surfaces and lighten the main...

    Muzzleloading percussion shotgun recommendations?

Avoid screw in chokes on CVA or on all ML? Is it because they are harder to load thru? Thanks, Shawn

    New to me SxS

There is a gap between the barrel and the tang is it supposed to be like that or should it be a tighter fit? Also you can see in the fourth pic that the stock does not seem to line up wit the center of the barrel, that seems weird to me everything is tight when locked together though no wiggle.

I am curious, how do you determine if a old muzzle-loader is salvageable for returning to shooting condion? Do you have things you look for when you are shopping? Just curious so when and if I decide to look for another one what I should look for. Thanks, Shawn

    Replacement Brown Bess lock

Sorry I guess I should have explained, I sent my lock to Middlesex Village to get it repaired (it would fire at half cock) and I have not heard from them since, they verified that they got the lock and then stopped returning emails or answering the phone, that was six months ago. I have filled a...

    New to me SxS

Hello, I just recently picked up the SxS for fairly cheep recently, I am not familiar at all with this style of muzzleloader. My first hope would be to get it back to shooting condition but if that is not possible I would be happy to make it a wall hanger. Here are the list of problems I...
