Need help repairing old target rifle

I do not have the broken piece. So your saying I should square off the edges so that I will be in-letting a square piece instead of whatever shape that is? I was planning on using the piece you see in the pic in order to keep as much original wood as possible. I'm okay with your plan, it's...

Need help repairing old target rifle

Hi everyone, I bought this rifle a few months ago and it sat idle while I decided what to do with it. I finally decided that I wanted to do as much as I can myself, as cheaply as I can. The original thread can be found here...

    Target Percussion needs serious repairs

Thanks gents. I talked about restoring it with a gentleman on the phone today. I will take it in to him in a couple of weeks and see what he says and take it from there. I plan on shooting it.

My first impressions are that I like this gun and that it deserves to be brought back to life.

    Target Percussion needs serious repairs

I just got this in the mail today. It is my first muzzleloader of any type and man, does it need some TLC. First the basics; it is a percussion target rifle of unknown caliber. My cheap calipers measure it around .33. It was made by H.V. Perry of Fredonia NY who was known to be a quite a...

    Building a Schuetzen-esque rifle?

Thanks for pointing out the gunstockplus website. I have never heard of them and I thought that I had seen everyone that sells kits. I find their website to be less than ideal though, and I cant see any pictures of anything with a pistol grip and the pictures fly by so fast it is tricky for me...

    Building a Schuetzen-esque rifle?

Hi everyone. I have been interested in building a muzzleloader since I attended Friendship this past summer and Jethro was kind enough to let me shoot his rifle on the woodswalk with him. What I would like is to build a flintlock, round ball, target rifle in the schuetzen style. It could be...

    Muzzleloadingforum Friendship Woodswalk Fall 2013

I did get to shoot a flintlock! Jethro had the same reaction as you. We were walking away when all of sudden he wheels around and very excitedly tells me that I need to shoot a flintlock. He loads it for me. I take aim at the first station, the bent bunny, and powPOW! Now there is only one...

    Muzzleloadingforum Friendship Woodswalk Fall 2013

I just got back from my first woodswalk and my first muzzle loading experience and I must say I had a blast! I go to meet a few you from here on the forum, shoot some steel targets and put a lot of black smoke in the air. I even got to cut a card in half! It was an incredible experience and...

    Muzzleloadingforum Friendship Woodswalk Fall 2013

That sounds amazing. I'll be at friendship during the first weekend and while I do not have a rifle I would love to tag along and watch. This is all very new to me and I would love to see how you guys party. So to speak.

    Muzzleloadingforum Friendship Woodswalk Fall 2013

What exactly happens on the Woodswalk? I assume trees, walking, and muzzleloaders are involved. Beyond that I'm clueless. I ask because I think I'm coming.

    whos going to friendship?

As of right now I am planning on being there for Wednesday. I picked Wednesday because I was told that vendors might be too busy to really speak with me on the weekend but by the next weekend most of them are gone. I just picked Wednesday to split the difference.

    whos going to friendship?

I'm sure it will be fun no matter what but it is definitely going to be more with a shopping list and money!

    whos going to friendship?

I will be going for a day or two midweek. I'm looking forward to it because I've never even seen a muzzleloader fired, let alone dozens of them (or hundreds...I don't really know what to expect). I'm going to see some rifles in person and pick one I want to build. Should be fun. Ohh, and...
