    Homemade patch cutter

Heres one I've used for years And it works! Buy a cheap round hole saw, the kind that has several sized blades on it that goes in an electric drill. Use the 1-3/8 size for 54cal and the next one down for 45 and 50cal. Put the size you want in a drill press and run at a lower speed, Take a Dremal...

    Found a 54 now what?

Thanks to all who replied. Reading through all the posts,It seems most are using .530 RB's with pillow ticking and 70-90gr of powder. That shouldn't be to difficult to find a decent load. I did notice there is a (K) in the serial number so the rifle was origionally a kit gun. It appears that...

    Found a 54 now what?

Hi everyone, I've been shooting BP for 40 yrs but have never had or shot a 54cal. I stopped in a little gun shop today up here in Maine and noticed a dusty Renegade sitting in the corner. The barrel had a little surface rust in the barrel so I dropped my bore light down the tube and it appeared...

Keep hearing about T/C stocks splitting.

I don't think it's a big problem. I have shot several hundred RBs through mine but have not run more than 60gr through it. Our local shop made a statement about not trying to make do more than it was designed for, like elk hunting. He said to keep loads in the mid range. I don't know if he knew...

Well tell me about what I just bought!

I came across one of those about 5 years ago in perfect condition and the guy wanted $150 for it and I dickered him to $100. Now I here these little rifles are going up in price fast. Our local Muzzleloading shop offered a new TC 50cal for it. He did say that a local club is always looking for...

    Back in it again!

Patches look great with no burn at all. I have been using .018 ticking,.492 RBs, and loads of pyrodex from50 to 75grs. shots go right to left about 6inches at 50 yards. elevation about the same. This is the first 50cal I have ever had trouble with.

    Back in it again!

Thanks for all the ideas. I forgot to mention that the one load i found was .490 ball,.015 oiled patch and 50 grs of pyrodex. this seemed to do pretty good but any more powder than that and everything went to he@@. I wouldn't mind this load but I want to be able to use it for deer out to 75...

    Back in it again!

Hello everyone. I'm new to this site and have been reading here for about 2 weeks. I have been shooting BP off and on for about 40 years. I recently got back into it when I picked up a little Transitions deerhunter at a yard sale for $35.00 I still had a lee mold that throws .492 round balls and...
