Cap popped, rifle didn't fire, until later

Thank you guys. I've learned something new today. Glad no one was hurt in these incidents.

Wondering how that could happen after 5 min. I'm not doubting Crow-Feather at all, just curious.

Cabela's not shipping bp guns anymore?

Well I'm a bit shocked this happens in the U.S. I almost don't feel so bad now, I guess nutbar ideas know no borders.

Cabela's not shipping bp guns anymore?

That's even more crazy. Who even thinks this stuff up and believes it's sensible.

Cabela's not shipping bp guns anymore?

Last time i bought a rifle at Cabela's the youngster walked me to the cash holding the box then walked me outside, gave me the box with a "have a nice day". From a safety point of view does that make sense?

Antiques don't need paperwork to buy nor a firearms permit. Nonrestricted firearms, most rifles and shotguns, don't need a transport permit, and if you have a license to buy handguns or any restricted the transport permit is electronically attached to bring it to a club, gun show or for repair...

    Using a smaller Minie ball.

The Lee .478 seems to work well for me but I prefer the original style. I'll try a few things and see how it goes. Thanks I will check into that. Thanks

    Using a smaller Minie ball.

    Thanks. Good idea.

    Using a smaller Minie ball.

I did that but it was still too small. Seems strange how 3000 th of an inch could make such a difference. Only in guns and NASA I guess.

Not many in Quebec either. Except for (shutter) inlines for hunting.

    Using a smaller Minie ball.

I'd like to use my Lee mold to cast original Minie balls as right now I'm using the Lee improved ball which is .578 and the other mold is .575 for a P53 I used to have. That's too small for my .58 cal. Is there a way I can use the .575 by wrapping it? Lee doesn't make a .578 original ball mold...

    Need help with revolver.

It works fine now. I don't know, to me it's a bit elegant looking, strange without no recoil shields but still. sourdough has a good bit about Pietta made Dance revolvers. Cheers

    Need help with revolver.

I don't know the source, but they also mentioned what you said about the cartridge belt. It was taken on the Chickasaw Indian Territory in Oklahoma. So after they were moved. If you go to Cowan's auction site the photo was sold for 900+.

    Need help with revolver.

Thank you. Yes the wedge can just be pressed in and needs a light tap to remove. I think there was some interference on the cylinder because the bluing was wearing a bit. I reblued it and so far all is good. Locks up tight and timing is right on. Ian

    Need help with revolver.

Thanks for all your help. Had to file the wedge a bit and now it works perfectly. This is Geronimo with a Dance revolver.

What are you doing this winter?

In the winter we'd be much obliged if you turn all the wind turbines facing north. Every little bit helps.

    New member from MO

Welcome from Quebec Canada. Been shooting musket and cap'n'ball for over 20 years, but I'm learning how to do things better from the great advice from any questions I've asked here. Best of luck.

who all uses peeps on their percussion guns.

Oh yeah. With a period scope. If I had the bucks a Whitworth would be No.1 on my bucket list. I don't think the Union boys liked them at all.

I hear ya. I'd stop at scoping it for sure. Ian
